Governor Abbott Endorses Jimmy Granberry for Nueces County District Attorney
“Jimmy Granberry is the conservative fighter Nueces County needs in their district attorney’s office. Jimmy is the tough-on-crime candidate who will uphold the law, keep dangerous criminals off our streets, and help Texas remain a law-and-order state. I am proud to endorse Jimmy Granberry for Nueces County District Attorney.”
Governor Greg Abbott
About Jimmy
Jimmy Granberry was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023 to be our Nueces County District Attorney. An experienced attorney, Jimmy will ensure dangerous criminals are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and put behind bars. Jimmy is committed to serving the citizens of our county in a fair, tough and effective manner.
The scandals of the last Democrat administration have eroded the public trust of the Nueces County District Attorney’s office causing many qualified attorneys to leave. As a result, the citizens of Nueces County are facing delayed justice and mismanagement with reports of evidence being lost in notable cases, including dismissals of serious charges.
Governor Abbott selected Jimmy Granberry to restore integrity to the District Attorney’s office and deliver justice for victims. Jimmy is a highly qualified attorney with over 35 years of experience in criminal law as both a prosecutor and defense lawyer.
Jimmy spent four years as an assistant DA and felony prosecutor for the very office he now leads before deciding to open his own private practice in 1994. Throughout his legal career, Jimmy was blessed with numerous valuable mentors who taught him how to serve the public with integrity. As the Nueces County District Attorney, he is committed to serving as a mentor for young lawyers in the office to build an honorable and qualified group of attorneys to serve victims in Nueces County.
Jimmy understands that it is his responsibility to deliver swift justice for our citizens when crimes are committed, and when people are victimized. He takes that role seriously and will lead others in his office to do the same.
Jimmy’s Family
He is married to his wife, Dr. Pamela Smith, and they have four children. They attend All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi. Jimmy received an undergraduate degree from Trinity University and a law degree from Texas Tech.
